He has been the Head of Service of Fiona Stanley Hospital Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery since 2015.

A/Prof Song hails from South Africa where he completed his specialist training & migrated to Singapore in 1997 practising at the Singapore General Hospital.
In 2015 A/Prof Song moved to Perth, tasked with setting up a new department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the state-of-the-art & flagship for WA, Fiona Stanley Hospital
He has helmed each of the major hospitals in all 3 countries where he has practised in. Responsible thus in the training of generations of plastic surgeons. He also serves as a faculty at Curtin Medical School in the Education department.
His major interests include aesthetic surgery (boasting experience with Caucasian, African & Asian clients), major Head & Neck reconstruction & chronic wounds.
The aesthetic surgery armamentarium is comprehensive with a special interest in facial aesthetics. Modalities in this sphere include autogenous fat transfer, nonsurgical methods – laser, radiofrequency & other forms of light energy, botulinum toxin administration and other filler technologies.
A/Prof Song is a proponent of the concept of Comprehensive Facial Aesthetics that aging is an unstoppable
process that affects all layers of the integument. To delay the effects of aging & to maintain a fresh look demands means other than surgery & the concept of maintenance which includes lifestyle changes.
Research interests of late also include the science of antiaging with concepts of the gut & skin microbiome being forefront of how we learn to live healthily, happily & confidently.
