Dr Alex Yeong
Specialist training and consulting
Dr Yeong has 14 years of medical experience, specialising in retinal diseases and their surgical management. He is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon, having completed both vitreoretinal fellowships in Perth. Prior to his fellowship, he completed his basic medical and ophthalmology training in the UK and subsequently becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2022.
He offers comprehensive ophthalmic assessment and management for both medical and surgical retinal disorders. Dr Yeong also performs cataract surgery, including complex cataract cases and secondary intraocular lens procedures. He welcomes referrals for patients requiring comprehensive ophthalmic care across a wide range of conditions
Cataract & Lens Surgery
Dr Yeong provides comprehensive cataract assessment and modern cataract surgery with tailored intraocular lens selection. He offers counselling regarding premium intraocular lens options and performs secondary intraocular lens procedures, including scleral-fixated lenses. YAG laser capsulotomy is available to treat posterior capsular opacification following cataract surgery.
Retina & Laser Medical Retina
He provides both medical and surgical management of retinal disorders, including vitrectomy surgery, including vitrectomy surgery for retinal detachments, epiretinal membranes and macular holes. He also provides intravitreal injections and retinal laser treatments for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular diseases and retinal tears.
General Ophthalmology
Dr Yeong is also happy to provide assessment and management for a broad range of general ophthalmic conditions including:
• Glaucoma (including selective laser trabeculoplasty and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery)
• Eyelid lesions and oculoplastic conditions
• Corneal and ocular surface disorders
